Vintage Love Medal pendant in solid 18 carat (750 thousandths) yellow gold, eagle's head hallmark and diamond hallmark of the famous French master goldsmith Alphonse AUGIS. branded 'A.AUGIS'. Circular model called "L'Essentielle" in hand-patinated radiant gold with a beautiful border in shiny gold, bearing in relief the inscription "+ qu'hier – que demain". The plus is set with a small cut white stone and the minus is decorated with 2 calibrated rectangular synthetic rubies. No engraving on the back.

It was in 1907 that Alphonse AUGIS, a jeweler in Lyon, inspired by a poem dedicated by the poet Rosemonde Gérard (1866-1953) to her husband the writer Edmond Rostand (1868-1918) author of 'Cyrano de Bergerac' created: The Medal of Love. He had the idea of transcribing the two lines: "Because you see every day I love you more Today + than yesterday and well - than tomorrow". The Medal of Love constantly recalls the fervor of eternal feelings.
