Legendary diamond

Legendary diamond

Dua Lipa turned heads as she arrived on the Met Gala red carpet as the event's co-host. That evening, it was not her splendid dress that caught the attention but her choice of accessories, in particular her magnificent diamond necklace, which did indeed arouse interest.

The legendary diamond branded Tiffany & Co

The diamond necklace Dua Lipa wore to the Met Gala contained the new Legendary diamond from Tiffany & Co, which made her the first person to wear it as a celebrity. The Legendary white diamond weighs more than 100 carats and is set on the brand's Lucida Star necklace. THE diamond pays homage to the shape of the iconic Tiffany yellow diamond with its almost identical cushion cut. According to the label, the new white diamond is D color, has 82 facets and is responsibly mined in Botswana.

The history of the diamond

The original Tiffany yellow diamond, weighing 128.54 carats, was discovered in 1877 in the Kimberley diamond mines of South Africa. It has since become one of Tiffany's most famous pieces, with an estimated value of $30 million in 2019.

Only four women have had the honor of wearing the original Tiffany diamond, including Mary Whitehouse who was the first to wear it to a ball for the jewelry company in 1957. Audrey Hepburn wore it for publicity shots for Breakfast at Tiffany's in 1961, Lady Gaga sported it at the Oscars in 2019 and Beyoncé in a Tiffany & Co campaign in 2021. With her diamond necklace featuring Tiffany & Co's new Legendary diamond, Lipa added her own touch to the history of fashion.
