The nautical charm of Cape Cod

Launched in 1991 by the design Henri d'Origny, the Cape Cod is immediately recognizable thanks to its double rectangle shaped case and its interchangeable bracelet, which have become an icon of the maison Hermès. Inspired by the marine world, this one recalls the link Anchor Chain signature of the maison since the 1930s, and takes its name from the popular Massachusetts seaside resort of the same name, favored by the gilded youth of Boston and New York.

Fashionable and elegant, like the famous beaches of this American coastal city, Cape Cod breaks free from the codes of classic watchmaking and becomes a true invitation to travel for free and independent spirits.

Cape Cod: a true fashion accessory

In 1998, the model experienced a revival thanks to Martin Margiela, director of women's ready-to-wear at Hermès, who decided to enrich it with a Double Tour chic bracelet, which he exhibits during several fashion shows of the maison. 

In 2007, the Cape Cod reached yet another milestone: Hermès decided to combine it with a Haute Horlogerie caliber and a moon phase movement, created by Vaucher Manufacture, which will allow other technical possibilities to be explored.

Then, to celebrate its anniversary in 2021, the Cape Cod is presented in completely new variations: its case is elongated or adorned with diamonds, its dial is decorated with mother-of-pearl, and a new men's model is born, equipped with a cuff-type metal bracelet.

The Cape Cod also stands out for its unusual strap attachment, giving it a style that is both chic and everyday, with the particularity of being interchangeable among a variety of colored leathers, specialties of the maison Hermès or gold links, where the watch almost becomes a jewel.
