Timothée Chalamet x Cartier : everything you need to know about the Dune-inspired necklace necklace
The famous Parisian jeweler is used to designing unique pieces especially for the actor's appearances on the red carpet. After his first collaboration with Cartier for the release of the film Wonka, Timothée repeats for the release of the film Dune. At the premiere of the film: part two in London, Timothée Chalamet sported a necklace dazzling custom-made, imbued with the spirit of Arrakis.
THE necklace by Timothée Chalamet, described by Cartier as his "creation", was designed under the artistic direction of the actor himself. This jewel is inspired by Dune and includes many details in reference to the film. This necklace Cartier was designed to be modular, with pieces that Chalamet can rotate in order to present the different combinations of the 900 sparkling stones encrusted there. On one side, rotating pieces showcase orange, yellow and brown diamonds in homage to the desert landscape of Arrakis.
However, Cartier didn't just use the same colors, which would have been too easy. The jeweler also used "inverted" diamonds to create a rough texture that mimics the bumpy topography of the planet Dune.
On the back of these sandy stones is a combination of blue sapphires and spinels intended to evoke the eyes of the Fremen tribe, played by Timothée Chalamet in the film. And although it is not mentioned in the press release of Cartier, the tubular design of the necklace inevitably recalls the giant sandworms that burrow beneath the surface of Arrakis.
